CEFC TRSM Withdraws from 6 Hours of Silverstone

CEFC TRSM are set to miss another round of the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season as Ginetta announces their withdrawal from the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

It's been anything but plain sailing for the CEFC TRSM 'Manor' team so far this season. Following their withdrawal from the opening round of the Super Season at the 6 Hours of Spa, the team are now facing a second withdrawal as announced by Ginetta this morning.

An updated entry list for the upcoming 6 Hours of Silverstone revealed a reduced eight-car entry for the LMP1 class as the two Manor cars are now missing. Following a lacklustre debut at Le Mans - the cars qualified 9th and 14th overall and only one of them crossed the finish line 105 laps down, there had been reports of a performance deficit for the Mechachrome engine that the team had chosen to run in the Ginetta G60-LT-P1 chassis. Mechachrome had confirmed to Ginetta that they could not make the necessary changes to the unit and Ginetta decided to switch to an AER P60B twin turbo V6 engine for one of the chassis - believed to be the same unit as SMP Racing use in their BR1 chassis. Unfortunately, this change was not presented to the Endurance Committee in time and as a result, was not allowed for Silverstone.

It appears that the team will now be using this time to run an in-house testing program with the new AER engine. According to Dailysports car, Ginetta have concluded that while their chassis is a highly capable unit, the original engine units from Mechachrome were underperforming - the hope is that the new engine will unlock the performance capabilities of the chassis.

Following its summer break, the FIA World Endurance Championship makes its return with the 6 Hours of Silverstone on the 19th of August. Full details of the event can be found on the WEC website.
